Planning to get ready for the season - Spring training will kick off from August 15 through to the end of Sept. This will be a 6 week programme run by Aaron Campbell. Watch out for more details.
Also, in the September/October school holidays, Performance Baseball run by Scott and Aaron Campbell will be hosting a Spring Training Camp. Also attending is Howie Clark, with over 30 years of baseball experience including parts of 6 years in the Major Leagues. The goal is to prepare players for the upcoming season in a professional programme that will allow them to learn new skills and develop their current abilities.
This is an amazing oppourtunity to be around the best coaching New Zealand has ever seen. All the information about the camp is available at:

During the off-season, many of us are working on fundraising plans to help us achieve the goals of the club for the season coming up and beyond.
We rely on fundraising activities to bring in money to pay for:
- equipment - bats, helmets, balls, etc
- uniforms - jerseys, hats and t-ball pants
- Fields maintenance equiment - bases, rakes, watering etc
- Coaching - development officer, coaching clinics and resources
- Major projects - such as the dugouts, batting cage, storage units etc.
- Umpires - development, training and travel to local and overseas events
- Travel - to assist sending players overseas
As you can see from above, there are many different programmes and initiatives that we need to raise money for, so we need to prioritise and focus on a few areas at a time.
Initial fundraising activity will focus on funding for our Development Officer, Dugouts and getting our No2 field up to standard. We also have plans around building a permanent batting cage and getting our gear and jersey stock ready for the start of the season.
We have a fundraising committee headed up by Adelita Sotutu - so if you are keen to help or have ideas for raising money please contact Adelita - click here to send her an email. |

New Zealand’s Under-17 National Baseball Team will be travelling to Washington State in early July to challenge some of the best ball clubs in America’s Great Northwest while playing in front of dozens of U.S. collegiate and professional scouts in two major summer tournaments, according to Baseball New Zealand officials.
The squad of 26 players from across the nation, including four players and three coaches from Howick-Pakuranga:
· Dewald de Klerk - catcher/pitcher
· Luke Hansen - pitcher/shortstop
· Nick Koh - 2nd base/pitcher
· Bradley Thomas - pitcher/1st base
· Aaron Campbell – Coach
· Dan Tan – Assistant Coach
· Jono Fellet – Assistant Coach
Baseball New Zealand will be bringing the equivalent of two clubs to the Seattle and central Washington areas, divided up into two teams (Team Black & Team Silver), where younger players and those converting from softball will get a chance to move between both team rosters as the coaching staff gets a feel for the roster before the highlight of the trip, the River Dog Invitational Tournament in Ephrata, Washington beginning on July 7.
Fundraising is underway for this – please help out where you can to assist these players in their fundraising efforts. A fundraising dinner is scheduled for later in June, details to follow.

Like many sports organisations, our club relies on funding for projects, equipment, uniforms and coaching. We are very fortunate to have some great sponsors including:

Briggs and Stratton
In 2009 Briggs and Stratton donated a lawn tractor to the club, to help us keep the fields in top condition. This is a great little tractor - look out for it down at Lloyd Elsmore.
Thanks for your support Briggs and Stratton!

Pub Charity
Pub Charity have provided funding in 2008 and 2009 toward the cost of our baseball hats, Baseballs and t-ball uniform pants. Baseballs are a big cost for us so this is a great help - also the hats are an important part of the DiamondBlacks uniform and look great with the Pub Charity logo on the side.
Thanks for your support Pub Charity!
