Baseball NZ Nationals PDF Print E-mail

The Baseball NZ Nationals are over for another year, and thanks to lots of hard work from the committee and members of this club, the tournament was the biggest and best yet.

Despite having no games on Friday due to terrible weather, games were rescheduled and we managed to get all grades finished and through to the finals.

Our U12 team did really well against a very strong Central City team in the A finals, but eventually Central won the game. Special Congratulations to Ian Vermeulen from our HP U12 All-Stars, he received the award for best Batter in the A Grade (U12). In U14, our team lost all 3 games against a very strong Bayside team.

Seniors played a thrilling final against West City on Sunday morning, but also lost out. It could have something to do with the marathon game HP played against Canterbury the night before - the game was drawn at 4-4 after 7 and carried on that way until Canterbury pulled ahead 6-4 in the 16th inning - the longest competition baseball game in NZ history!
