In the 2009 Season, DiamondBlacks Baseball expanded to the Maraetai/Beachlands area, at the Te Puru Community Centre.

Last season was the Diamondblacks first at Te Puru. We began with a Tee Ball program and we had a great season with over 30 players registered. We practised and played on Friday nights at 5:15. It was a good start and I think everyone had a great time and several parents have contacted me wanting to know what’s up for this year.

Basically this season we will again be running a Tee Ball on Friday nights and we expect to have over 40 players at this level so we will be keen for as much parent help as we can get.

Last year I was asked repeatedly for higher junior grades so this season we will be running trials that will be held for an U11 and U13 Little League team. We will be trialling for players to cover 1 team at each grade. These teams will practise once a week and play on Saturdays in the Auckland League.

Te Puru Park is allocating a playing area for baseball this season. So we will be setting out a diamond with a portable backstop and a portable pitching mound for the U13s.

Again we will be needing some help with our coaching, so if you have any Softball or Baseball experience please let me know.
